Open Air Cinema, St Kilda: on the roof top of the Sea Baths

Last night a friend and I went to the Open Air Cinema, atop the roof of the Sea Baths in St Kilda, to see the Ides of March (George Clooney and Ryan Gosling).

What a lovely night out!!

The blue deck chairs were neatly lined up in rows facing the movie screen. There were fish and chips, cold drinks, and Ben & Jerry's icecream.

The views of the city were splendid. There were windsurfers floating around the bay. We enjoyed the sun setting over the ocean while we waited for it to get dark enough for the movie to start.

Though it was a relatively warm night, up in the air just next to the ocean the wind blew a freezing wind. Blankets were hired out for $4 each, but they did little to keep out the wind. I recommend rugging up - even if it's warm when you leave your house!

I love our city.

  1. I love this as well! Last year I saw Jaws there, which was great because you could hear the sea while the movie was playing....alhtough it's hard to look dignified while you get up from the super comfy deck chairs!
